Surface Mount or Insert Mount Applications
The
Bio-Fighter UV product line provides the installer with two options on how to
apply the technology to an HVAC system, surface mount or insert mount. The
method chosen should be based upon how the system is, or has the propensity to
be, contaminated with microbiological organisms, customer / installer safety,
and ease of maintenance.
When to use a Surface Mount
The
Bio-Fighter Nomad and Nomad 2 products allow the installer to place the entire
UV fixture into the air handler or ductwork by mounting the chassis onto an
internal flat surface. The Nomad or Nomad 2 should be chosen when the
installer does not want to drill any holes and does not want any of the UV
fixture exposed externally. It is strongly recommended that installations of
this type have a safety cut-off switch installed at the access panel.
When to use Insert Mount
The
Bio-Fighter Triad products provide the installer with the capability of
mounting the Triad chassis on an external surface and inserting the lamp into
the air stream. This type of installation requires drilling hole(s) and is
recommended where the installer does not want to remove an access panel on the
HVAC system in order to maintain the UV fixture.

Air stream
applications require maximum UV-C output, 2 lamp units are recommended for
A-coil and return plenum applications.
VersaLight
models are also available for applications with limited space. The remote
mounted chassis allows the ballast to be mounted up to 6 feet from the lamp
holders. The VersaLight is available in 1 or 2 lamp configurations with 14, 16
or 20" lamps.
Warning:
The end(s) of
the UV lamp(s) should never be installed closer than 2" to the opposite
wall of the air handling unit. Installer must check lamp clearance.
Professional
Installation Recommended: Although the Bio-Fighter is simple to
install, it is recommended a professional contractor install your new
Bio-Fighter. New electrical service may be required at the installation
location and this should be performed by a professional. These
UV light systems should take an hour or less to install.
